Lot's of Nothing Punctuated By Brief Bursts of Something This Week

Well, lot's of little "noise" things have been going on this week with the amazing quality of having practically no qualities to speak (or blog) of.

We went to the zoo on Monday this week and Sadie had quite the blast. We saw Thane Manard walking around doing his zoo-executive thing so that was kind of neat in a way, I guess, but otherwise the zoo was as much fun as it always is, though offers really nothing new to talk to you about.

Here's a very nice picture of Julie and Sadie that I'm fond of and finally proves to many of you that read this that I am in fact married. Julie was pleased enough with it too to allow me to display it:

A few other pictures from the zoo trip are on my Flickr page too!

On Tuesday, I got into a rather absurd argument with Spherion as I'm trying to retrieve a corrected W2 from them to give to NKU for my financial aid packet for this semester. The highlight of the conversation was:

Jason: Hi! I'd like to get a new W2 please. My social is XXX-XX-XXXX.
Woman: I'm sorry sir, our system doesn't have a listing for that number.
Jason: Yes! That's exactly right because (proceeds to explain issue)
Woman: Oh! You didn't need to call me yet. You need to call Spherion's Corporate HR line.
Jason: Great! Do you have their number there?
Woman: Let me see . . . . . yes that number is blah blah blah.
Jason: But that's the number I just dialed to reach you. . . .
Woman: I'm sorry sir, but that's the only number I have listed for Spherion's Corporate HR.
Jason: So then you are Spherion's Corporate HR?
Woman: No, I work for W2 Express.
Jason: But I just called the number you gave me and you're the one who answered.
Woman: I'm sorry sir, but that's the only number I have for them.
Jason: Yes, but my fear here is that if I call the number you just gave me, you're just going to answer the phone again.
Woman: That may well be the case sir, but that's the only number I have for Spherion's Corporate HR line.
Jason: But you don't work for Spherion's HR?
Woman: No.

That right there. That really happened. . . . Words escape how I felt after the whole conversation was over with and I'm not going to relate the entire drama to you, but please suffice it to say that it really was the most absurd thing I've ever taken part in. It was a Beckett play and, in some strange, sad way, it was beautiful I think.

I've been playing a TON of Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass this week. I've almost beat it now. Andy has given a far better review of it here than I have any interest to give but I will add to what he has already written and say that it really is good enough to justify buying a DS just to be able to play it.

I watched Pushing Daisies last night - episode 3. Its good. Its actually really good. It is as good as Heroes is bad this season. In fact, it is really the most Edward Scissorhands-esque thing I've ever seen that isn't Edward Scissorhands. It's great. It has a good sense of charm and wit, an atmosphere that somehow successfully combines pieces of Eerie, Indiana, CSI, and The Adams Family, and Anna Friel, whom, though we've only met just recently, I burn with a passion for. Her heart burns for me too, I bet. . . . .

And then, finally, today Margo spotted this gem of an article from "Wired" Magazine. Highlights for me were the letter from Google ("Had we not removed these URLs, we would be subject to a claim for copyright infringement, regardless of its merits.") and of course the brilliant synopses of part of Hubbard's cult's scriptures ("75 million years ago, an evil galactic overlord named Xenu solved the galaxy's overpopulation problem by freezing excess people and transporting the bodies to Teegeeack, now called Earth. After the hapless travelers were defrosted, they were chained to volcanoes that were blown up by hydrogen bombs -- and their disembodied spirits continue to haunt mankind today.") Brilliant!

New Office tonight!

First I really like the photo of Julie and Sadie!! Secondly, I just love that conversation between you and the supposed HR people - I only wish I had it on tape. Did you call back? Thirdly...thank you for calling my article a "gem". I really worked hard to find it. (not really) Also check out xenu.net and clambake.org - they are great at debunking scientology and you can't get them via google anymore.

I was so lucky to be sitting on the other side of your cube during that conversation. I get flustered very easily, however you do not. It was the first time I actually thought that you just might snap and start screaming.

Julie and Sadie are both beautiful! Sadie looks alot like her mom :)
